Career

When Breslin was three years old, she made her acting debut in a Toys “R” Us commercial. She played Bo Hess, Graham Hess’s daughter, in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2002 film Signs, which served as her debut performance (Mel Gibson). The majority of the reviews for Signs were favorable, and it was a box office hit, earning $408 million globally. Critics praised Breslin’s performance in the movie.

She and co-star Rory Culkin provided “terrifically real, nuanced performances,” according to Newsweek’s David Ansen. She starred in the 2004 movie Raising Helen with her brother Spencer as siblings, however the movie did badly.

In The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Breslin had a minor part. She portrayed Kira Bedik, a little child who reminds the mentally ill main character William Keane (Damian Lewis) of his lost, kidnapped daughter, in the indie film Keane.

Keane barely had a little theatrical run and only made $394,390 globally, but it got good reviews and Breslin got plaudits for her acting. “The sequences between Mr. Lewis and the adorably vulnerable Kira, wondrously performed by Ms. Breslin, offer a fascinating humanity to the picture,” Meghan Keane of The New York Sun observed.
