She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, U.S. and was born on 29th Jan 1954. She is well-known for her talk show which is the highest-rated tv program of its kind and is, The Oprah Winfrey Show which was broadcasted from Chicago.

She was born to a teenage unmarried mother who was a housemaid. Her biological father was a coal miner who became a barber and later he became a city councilman who was in the Armed Forces when she was born.

Later Noah Robinson Sr. claimed to be her biological father who was a Mississippi farmer and World War II Veteran. In the year of 2006, a genetic test of hers said that her mother’s ancestry was from the Kpelle ethnic group, in the area that today is Liberia.

Her gene was determined to be of the 89% Sub-Saharan African, 8% Native American, and 3% East Asian.

Winfrey was first working in the local media and during that time she was the youngest news anchor and the first black female news anchor in the Nashville’s WLAC-TV which is now called the WTVF-TV in where she has covered many stories like John Tesh, who worked at a competing Nashville station.

She left for Baltimore channel WJZ-TV as a co-anchor for the six o’clock news in the year of 1976. She was later in the year of 1977, been removed as a co-anchor and has worked in the lower-profile job at the very station.
