Roald Dahl is an English short-story writer, poet, wartime fighter and a novelist. He was born in  Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales, UK; on 13th September of 1916 and he passed away in  Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales, UK; on 23rd Nov 1990 owing to his ailment of Blood Cancer. He has been in the Royal Air Force during World War II as a fighter pilot. He once at this work forced a landing in the Libyan Desert and got severely injured during the occasion. He had to spend 5 whole months in Alexandria at the Royal Navy hospital. One of the interesting & notable things about him is he tends to express suspense and horrific events in a simple tone.

Roald Dahl was born in Villa Marie, Fairwater Road, in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales and his parents were Norwegians. His father was a wealthy man who did ship brokering. He settled in Cardiff with his first wife in the year of 1880 and later Marie Beaurin-Gresser, a French woman.

His father had two children with his first wife who are Ellen Marguerite and Louis before she was dead in the year of 1907. His mother immigrated to the UK and married his father in 1911. He was named after Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen. Roald’s first language was Norwegian naturally and he spoke with his parents and his sisters in the same. He and his siblings were baptised in the Norwegian Church, Cardiff. Another fact about his family is, his grandmother Ellen Wallace is a descendant of an early 18th-century Scotland who immigrated to Norway.


Success and career

Roald Dahl was famous and in-person who was in war, wrote stories and as a children author in their hearts and more in the time of history and all. He started as a short story writer and had become one of both beloved and the most successful children’s writers among those who stood in history and present. He has also written many screenplays. He has been in British schools though he wasn’t having any University education and he wanted to work for Shell Oil Company instead. He has worked there for just a few years and when World War II started he joined the RAF. Then as the war came to an end he got his lifetime of unretiring leisure time of writing.
